MAYER, ANTON A.

Dr. Robert Wolford, Richland County coroner, ruled today that Anton Adam Mayer, 49, of 871 Cecilwood Rd., died of a heart attack Saturday evening [July 8, 1967] while driving north on Main St.

Police said Mayer lost control of his car, hitting a parked car in front of 64 North Main St., which in turn hit another parked car.

Injured when they were caught between the parked cars as they were crossing the street were Mrs. Daniel Frost, 47, and Arlynn Williams, 19, both of Galion. They were treated and released from the hospital following the accident.

Mr. Mayer, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, was a bricklayer for Midwest Constructors Inc., and a member of Bricklayers Local 31. He was a World War II veteran.

Surviving are a son, Philip, at home; daughters, Mrs. Toni Lee Jones of 4371/2 South Main St. and Miss Debra Ann Mayer, at home; and mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Mayer, brothers, Joseph and Philip, and sister, Mrs. Helen Cormack, all of Mansfield.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wappner Funeral Home, the Rev. James Davis of Hilltop Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Friends may call beginning today at the funeral home.
