MARONEY, MATTHEW H.

Matthew H. Maroney, Sr., 80, of Main Street, died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY.

Mr. Maroney was born in Bayridge, Brooklyn, NY on July 18, 1925. He was a son of the late Matthew A. and Marth Schwarz Maroney. Mr. Maroney was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked as a supervisor in the Lederly Laboratories division of the American Cyanamid Company in Pearl River, NY for 35 years before retiring in 1985. In later years, he enjoyed raising and showing quarter horses before moving to Middleburgh, NY in 2000.

Mr. Maroney was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Carol Cooke Maroney, of Middleburgh, whom he married on May 24, 1972, and their children: sons, Matthew H. Maroney, Jr. (Lila) of Nanuet, NY; Michael P. Maroney (Marie) of Cornwall, NY; Martin W. Maroney (Denise) of New Windsor, NY; Bruce D. Miller (Mona) of Tomkins Cove, NY; Jeffrey J. Miller (Margaret) of Pine Bush, NY and Leonard C. Miller (Cathy) of Sparrow Bush, NY; 15 grandchildren and a brother, William Maroney of Edison, NY.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Palmer & Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY. Rev. Carol Coltrain, of the Huntersland United Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may call Saturday from 1-3 p.m. prior to service. Cremation will take place at the Vale Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady, NY.
