MANION, JAMES J.

Jim [August 29, 2013] was born on June 8, 1921 in Evanston, IL to Harriet and James J. Manion Sr. He lived in Evanston, IL until the family moved to Lake Forest where he attended and graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1939. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corps where he fought in the South Pacific. In 1950, he graduated from Lake Forest College and came to California to the Los Angeles area where he worked for Millprint Packaging as a sales rep. He married his first wife, and they had two children, Maureen and James III. He moved to Fresno in the mid-1950s and started his own business out of his home called Manion Packaging. Some of his customers were National Raisin and Ruiz Foods. In 1983 He married Donna DuceyFunch, his loving wife and partner of 30 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe and sisters, Margaret, Frances and Jeanie

He is survived by his wife, Donna Manion, his daughter, Maureen Penix, his son, James Manion, his grandchildren, Rachel Trach and Richard Penix and two great-grandchildren, Donna’s grandchildren, Taylor and Brittany Vadon, Jennifer Carlson, Lisa Gregory, Sean Scott, and great-grandchildren. He had many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel in Madera. Graveside Services will be Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.
