LOWE, ROBERT J.
Robert Jay Lowe [February 25, 2016] was born in Detroit, Michigan, and enlisted for military service in 1942 and became a Navy corpsman.
He was assigned to a Marine Corps combat unit, then volunteered for the 1st Marine Raider Battalion, 4th Marines, 6th Marine Division. He received a Purple Heart for severe wounds in combat in the Pacific. Although he never fully recovered from his war injuries, he enjoyed golfing and fishing.
He earned a Master’s degree in social work and was employed at Denver Department of Social Services as a children’s caseworker and later retired from Jefferson County Public Schools.
Robert is survived by one sister, daughter Carol Kreck, son Roger Lowe, two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Interment is at Ft. Logan National Cemetery alongside his wife, Hope Lowe, who was also a Navy veteran. He actively supported the Semper Fi Fund helping fellow wounded service members.
