LINDSEY, CHARLES L.

In memory of my Sweetheart:

Charles Luin Lindsey passed away the 17th of April 17, 1988, at the age of 65 years, one month and 10 days. He was born in Carter County and raised in Chilton. He was the son of the late George Lindsey and Rose Bedwell Lindsey. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Palisch Lindsey; dear brother of Leo Lindsey and Melba Melba Lindsey White; son-in-law of Grace Palisch; brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Appreciated VFW 11th District Mortuary Services were held Tuesday evening, the 19th at 8 p.m. Funeral was conducted by Kutis Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 2 th at 11 a.m. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park in the “Honor Garden” for veterans.

He served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, enlisting on Jan. 6, 1943. He then joined [Lt. Col. Fred D. Beans’] K Company, 3rd [Battalion]. His final mission was on the 2nd of November at Empress Augusta Bay in Bougainville. He was medically discharged after spending 11 months in the Navy hospital in Seattle, Wash. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, USA, Post 1663.

Charles was diagnosed as having cancer on the 26th of February and was never able to return home. He had been a resident of St. Louis since his teenage years, but had never forgotten his friends and the beautiful Current River, spending many leisure hours on the river and enjoying the wildlife in God’s beautiful Ozarks. He was a Christian, and I am sure he is asleep with Jesus.
