LECLERC, ARTHUR E.

Arthur “Earl” LeClerc, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Ashford Place Health Campus.

He was born Jan. 29, 1924, to Elmer LeClerc and Pearl LeClerc in Shelby County. He married Maxine (Patterson) LeClerc on Nov. 10, 1946, and she preceded him in death July 8, 1988. He married Jeane (Cockerham) LeClerc in December of 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Jeane (King) LeClerc of Shelbyville; stepson, Timothy King and wife, Brenda, of Indianapolis; stepdaughters, Rita Weaver of Shelbyville and Millie Haehl and husband, Richard, of Zionsville; brothers: Raymond LeClerc and wife, June, of Shelbyville; and Rex LeClerc and wife, Mae, of Shelbyville; stepgrandchildren, Sarah Benefiel and Courtney Weir; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, James “Bud” LeClerc and Larry LeClerc; and sister, Jean.

Mr. LeClerc was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Waldron High School in 1942.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II.

He was a union electrician for 30 years. He had also worked at Chambers for three to four years.

Mr. LeClerc was a member of First Baptist Church and the VFW of Shelbyville.

Earl loved bowling, shuffleboard, golfing with his brothers and playing fast-pitch softball at Kennedy Park for many years. He had enjoyed traveling in earlier years and dancing.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Love officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Graveside military services will be conducted by local veterans organizations.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby County Cancer Association or First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
