LANIER, RUPERT
Alma – R. Lehman Lanier, 85, died Saturday afternoon [July 17, 2004] at his residence after a short illness.
He was a native of Candler County, but had lived in Bacon County since 1960.
He was the son of the late Jim Lanier and Lottie Williams Lanier and was also preceded in death by a brother, DuBignon Lanier of Albany, GA. Lehman was retired C.E.O. of Satilla Rural Electric Membership Corporation, a member of the Alma Lions Club, member of the Alma First Baptist Church and a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtice L. Lanier of Alma; one son, Lynn M. Lanier and wife Rene of Marietta, GA; two brothers, John Wallace Lanier of Macon and Glynn H. Lanier of Somerset, TX; four sisters, Dorothy L. Kenerly of Jesup, Eudelle L. Graham of Dunwoody, GA, Peggy L. Peek of Decatur, GA and Patsy L. Murry of Cacye, SC and two grandchildren, Amanda Cayleen Lanier and Brett Lehman Lanier, both of Marietta, GA. Also many nieces and nephews survive.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alma First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating.
The body will be carried to the Church at 1 p.m. to lie in state.
Interment will follow in Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter, GA.
