LACY, WILLIAM G.

DRESDEN – William G. Lacy, 75, of 10690 N. River Road, Dresden, died in the emergency room of Bethesda Hospital after collapsing at home Thursday evening, May 1, 1997.

Born Nov. 28, 1921, in Dresden, he had operated a barber shop on Main Street, Dresden, now operated by Fred Muse. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Marines’ 4th Raider Battalion and was on 19 islands in the Pacific and 14 ships during the war. He suffered from the debilitating effects of filariasis (heartworms) and malaria, dengue and undulant fever with which he was infected on Guadalcanal. Mr. Lacy was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel (Collins) Lacy; his brother, Delbert E. Lacy and a sister, Marjorie V. Seward, both of Dresden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Goldie (Holdsworth) Lacy.

There will be no public services and the body will be cremated in accordance with his wishes.
