KUSY, STANLEY J.

WORCESTER – Stanley J. Kusy, 92, of Worcester died Friday, January 24th [2014] in St. Vincent Hospital. His wife of 62 years, Mary B. (Rutkiewicz) Kusy died in 2009. He leaves a son, Alan R. Kusy and his companion JoAnne Morris of Worcester; two granddaughters, Briana and Lyndsie both of Worcester; a daughter-in-law, Gisela Kusy of Chapel Hill, NC; a brother, Frank Kusy; two sisters; Helen Kulig and Mary Rutkiewicz, all of Auburn; two grandchildren, Kevin and Kim both of North Carolina; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert P. Kusy; sister, Ethel Sullivan and five brothers, Emil, Richard, Edward, Theodore and Chester.

He was born in Leominster, the son of Stanley and Mary (Krupa) Kusy, and attended Worcester schools. A proud United States Marine, Stanley achieved the rank of Corporal and fought for his country in the Pacific Campaign on Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and New Georgia during World War II. Stanley worked at Wyman Gordon as a foreman, retiring after 37 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, the United States Marine Corps League, the VFW Post 3657 and a former member of the PNA and PNI clubs. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going out to eat. Mr. Kusy loved watching sports, especially the Boston teams. He was an avid donator to Mohegan Sun and dancer of polkas with his wife and also enjoyed going to Polish picnics. He was our hero.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 31st with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales Street. There are no calling hours. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps League, Worcester Detachment #144, 181 Lake Avenue, Worcester, MA 01604 or to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
