KRAUT, ROBERT K.
YORK – Robert K. Kraut, 91, passed away at his home on Sunday March 25, 2012. He was the husband of the late Freda L. (Fahs) Kraut, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Born January 2, 1921, in York, he was the youngest of four children to the late James M. and Margaret E. (Bush) Kraut. He was a 1938 graduate of West York High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of World War II; and later served two years in the Marine Corps Reserves and 16 years in the Army National Guard. He had worked as the former President of Print-O-Stat, Inc. and had been Vice President in charge of retail for Pace Resources, Inc. He was a faithful member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he had served on church council, and as treasurer. He was a life member of West York V.F.W. #8951; a life member of the Viking Athletic Association; and past president of the Lincolnway Lions Club. Mr. Kraut is survived by two granddaughters, Lauren E. Weldon and her husband, Bradley of Exton, and Carly E. Kraut of Wrightsville; a grandson, Adam F. Kraut and his wife, Amanda of York; and three great-granddaughters, Nora E. Weldon, Isabella J. Sweeney, and Sinclaire M. Kraut. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Kraut. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 N. Adams St., York, with his Pastor, The Rev. Brenda J. Ferree, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
