KOEHLER, MELVIN F.
Melvin F. Koehler of Bourbon, passed away Thursday, June 27, 1996 at the age of 72 years.
Mel as he was known by family and friends was born October 29, 1923 to the late Fredric and Louise (Lobby) Koehler at Chicago, Illinois. For three years he served his country in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged having obtained the rank of corporal. Mel loved trains. He worked for Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad/ACT in general construction for all types of freight cars. He also drafted plans for car assembly. He spent 16 years as Maintenance Engineer for the Salvation Army. He loved working and sharing his life with the kids-of-camp who thought of him as a grandfather. Mel was an active member of the Missouri Lions Club and also a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by three children, Mark, Lizett Christina, and Stacey Lynn Koehler, his companion of 10 years, Taresa Courtright, her family and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, July 1, 1996 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Majors Gary and Donna Van Hoesen officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
