KINANE, JOSEPH D., JR.

GUILDERLAND – Joseph D. Kinane Jr., 76, of Guilderland, died Sunday, April 21, 2002 in the Inn of Community Hospice after a brief illness. He was born in Brooklyn and was a graduate of Kingston High School. Mr. Kinane was a World War II veteran having served with the Marine Raiders in the Pacific Theater. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts, Presidential Unit Citation with Bronze Star and Navy Commendation with Bronze Star. Joe was an expediter with the U.S. Postal Service in Albany, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Guilderland Elks, American Legion Post 1680, U.S. Marine Raider Association, VFW Post 1386 and the 6th Marine Division Association.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys Mencel Kinane. He is the beloved father of Jo-Anne Barlow and her husband, John of Colonie, Colleen Pariseau and her husband, Scott of Guilderland and James Kinane and his wife, Nancy of Virginia Beach, VA. He is the grandfather of Erin Barlow, Bryan, Brittany, Kayla Pariseau, Jimmy and Kristin Kinane; brother-in-law of Julia Fitzpatrick; uncle of Elaine Donly; great-uncle of Randy and Rachel Price.

Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 9:15 at New Comber-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Avenue) thence to Christ the King Church, Westmere at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 7 p.m. for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in Saratoga National VA Cemetery.
