KEY, EUGENE M.
The body of Lt. Eugene M. Key, former Amarillo High School student who was killed [August 7, 1942] in the invasion of Tulagi during World War II, was returned to this country recently and will be interred at Bryan.
Lt. Key was a son of Dr. Ira F. Key, former pastor of Polk Street Methodist Church, and Mrs. Agnes Key, widowed, who still resides in Amarillo. Also listed as survivors of the young lieutenant who participated in the initial Division invading Jap-held islands are Joseph F. Key, manager of the Public Service Company and president of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Julian M. Key, physician of Pampa, and a sister, Mrs. Richard Roberts, 1519 Travis, this city.
Before entering service Lt. Key was editor of the book page of the Dallas Times-Herald. He was a graduate of Amarillo High School, where he played in the band, and of Southern Methodist University.
