KENNY, MAHLON D.

GREENSBORO – Mahlon Day Kenny, 92, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at St. Francis Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mahlon was born August 17, 1921 in Manhattan, NY to the late Eugene and Mildred Kenny. He was a United States Marine Raider in World War II in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. Mahlon graduated from the University of North Carolina and retired from Western Electric in 1982. He was also a longtime member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. Mr. Kenny was an avid golfer throughout his life.

In addition to his parents Mahlon was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Marie Edwards Kenny; brothers, Eugene Kenny and Joseph Kenny; and sister, Doris Kerns.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Krukenburg; daughter, Amy Kenny Trogdon; son, Buster Kenny (Kathy); step-children, Susan Chaney and Steve Harris; brother, Jerry Kenny; sister, Mildred Young; grandchildren Jonathan, Elizabeth, Julie, Josh, Brad, Russell, Lindsay, Molly and Travis; and great-grandchildren, Eli and Levi.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 3506 Lawndale Dr., Greensboro, NC 27408 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
