KANE, CHESTER J.
Chester J. Kane, 82, of Toms River, died Thursday, May 20 [2004], at his home. He was an aircraft assembler for Grumman Aircraft Corp., Bethpage, N.Y., for 25 years, retiring in 1977. He then worked for Admiral Farragut Academy, Pine Beach, as a carpenter. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart after being wounded on Saipan. He was a communicant of St. Luke’s Church, Toms River. Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Toms River for the past 18 years.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Vignato, in 1997. Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Alberta Kane; four sons and their wives, Kevin and Judy, Chester J. and Jamie, Michael and Donna, and John and Christine; a daughter and her husband, Candace and Earl Kaiser; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Route 9, Bayville. The funeral will be 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by a 9:15 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Luke’s Church, Toms River. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
