JONES, CHARLES L.
Charles “Chuck” L. Jones, 78, of 563 Maitland Drive, Chippewa Falls, died Friday evening, May 14, 2004, at his home under the care of Northwest Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Chuck was born in Dodgeville, Wis., on Jan. 9, 1926, to Burnell and Mary Ellen (Clayton) Jones. He attended school in Dodgeville, Waupun and Fairchild. Chuck served in the U.S. Marines in WWII from Aug. 4, 1942, until he was honorably discharged on March 29, 1944. He served in the Pacific Theater. He then moved to Eau Claire and was employed at Olstad Motors.
Chuck married Ilene G. Larson on Sept. 23, 1950, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. They moved to St. Paul, Minn., and then to Sand Creek, where he worked for Gilbert Motors. They moved to Chippewa Falls in 1957 and he began employment with the Wisconsin State Patrol as an Inspector at the Chippewa Falls Weigh Station. He then became employed at Ideal Chevrolet in Chippewa Falls, and later Phoenix Steel for several years before retiring in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Ilene; one daughter, Mary (John) Semingson of Chippewa Falls; three sons, Dennis (Nancy) Jones of Sheboygan Falls, James Jones of Cadott and Brian (Monica) Jones of Chippewa Falls; six grandchildren, Travis Jones, Tanner Jones, Amber Bakeman, Luke Semingson, Leah Jones and Kendra Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clayton “Bud” Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, with Rev. Ned Lenhart officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Hallie.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 17, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
