JOHANNES, ROLAND J.

Marine Sgt. Roland Johannes, 26, was killed at Okinawa May 21 [1945], according to word received yesterday by his wife, Margaret, 1933 N. 25th St. He had taken part also in the campaigns at Munda, New Georgia and Guam.

Sgt. Johannes attended St. Michael’s Parochial School and Vocational High School and worked at Spiegel’s Printing Co. until he joined the Marines in 1942. He went overseas two years ago.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Johannes; a brother, Sgt. Jerome, with the Army on Leyte, and two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Weiss and Miss Verena Johannes.

Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Church. He was a member of the church and of its Holy Name Society.
