JENKINS, ROY

Roy Forest Jenkins, 57, of Collinsville, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 1977, in Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

He was born in Edwardsville on Aug. 19, 1920, a son of the late Roy Debs Jenkins and of Mrs. Gladys Kohburn Jenkins, who survives in Collinsville. On Jan. 15, 1945, in San Diego, Calif., he was married to Lillian Esterlein, who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Cookie) Sedelmeir of Collinsville, a grandchild, and sisters Mrs. Joseph (Gaila) Koudela and Mrs. Harry (Nancy) Flavin, both of Edwardsville.

Mr. Jenkins was a co-owner and operator of the Horseshoe Restaurant and Lounge in Collinsville for the past 13 years. He had been an employee of the Shell Oil Co. for 29 years.

He was a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW Post 5791 in Collinsville, the Shell Recreation Association of Wood River, and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

A funeral service was to be held at 3 p.m. today in the Herr Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Sabbert officiating. Interment was to be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Belleville. Visitation was in the funeral home on Monday.
