IRVIN, CHARLES J.

Charles Jacob Irvin, 45, of 1111 Queen Ann St. died suddenly Monday night [October 7, 1968] at 8:13 o’clock in a local hospital following three weeks of illness.

A native of China Grove, Mr. Irvin was the son of the late Crawford M. Irvin and Mrs. Bessie Irvin Walker. He was the husband of Mrs. Yvonne Bunn Irvin of the home, who survives, and was a member of East Burlington Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II and a mechanic for Cox Brothers Garage.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Mrs. Pamela I. Ellington of High Point; one son, Ronald Morrison Irvin of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Crumpley of Monroe and Mrs. Ruth Johnson and Mrs. Faye Perkins, both of Concord; and three brothers, Crawford Irvin Jr. of Richmond, Va., S. J. Irvin of Morganton and Ralph Irvin of Ruby. S.C.

Final rites will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at East Burlington Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Frank Davison, pastor, will conduct the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

The body will remain at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o’clock.
