HOYLER, HAMILTON M.

BEAUFORT – Retired Marine Corps Col. Hamilton Marshall Hoyler, 84, died Saturday [June 12, 1999] in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. today in St. Helena’s Episcopal Church. Burial will be directed by Copeland Funeral Home.

Mr. Hoyler was born in New York City, a son of Paul V. Hoyler and Bertonia Hamilton Hooker Hoyler. He was a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School. He was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He was vice president of business affairs at Duke University. He was an active member of St. Helena’s Episcopal Church. He was the widower of Elinor Waterhouse Hoyler.

Surviving are a son, H. Marshall Hoyler of Arlington Va.,; two daughters, Lisa H. Jackson of Avondale Estates, Ga., and Molly H. Gray of Beaufort; a sister, Bertonia Hooker Hoyler of South Pasadena, Fla.,; and seven grandchildren.
