HOOVER, WILLIAM

William Charles Hoover, 38, of Niles drowned Saturday [June 6, 1959] in Christiana Lake, near Edwardsburg, when a boat overturned, tossing him, his 4-year-old son, Jimmy, his wife, and two others into the water. Another boat nearby picked up the adults except Hoover, who was trying to save his son. Both went down. A rescuer, Delbert Cleghorn, dove into water and saved the boy. The body of the father was found by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
