HEYLIGER, GEORGE

CONCORD, Sept. 29—Simple services were conducted at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston, recently, for Pfc. George Heyliger, U.S. Marine Corps hero, who was killed at Guadalcanal, Oct. 9, 1942. Rev. John Elmo Wallace, minister of Trinitarian Congregational Church, conducted the service which was arranged by his mother, Mrs. Augusta Foss, 9 Thoreau Street and his sister, Mrs. Leo R. Dee, 2 Bradford Street, West Concord, who survive. There was no military service and burial took place in the family lot. Pfc. Heyliger also is survived by several cousins. He was killed while serving with the Marines in the battle for Guadalcanal which served as the first beachhead for American troops in the southwest Pacific. He was the second Concord man to die in the service of his country during World War II. Before entering the service Pfc. Heyliger was employed at a local market and also worked for a local taxi firm.
