HAYDEN, HAROLD W.
The parents of two Cincinnati Marines have learned that their sons have been killed in action in the Pacific area and the War Department yesterday reported an Army lieutenant as missing in action.
Killed were Second Lieutenant Louis B. Beck, 24 years old, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Beck, 2905 Boudinot Avenue, and Private First Class Harold W. Hayden [November 22, 1943], 19, son of Mrs. John Long, 5649 Prosser Avenue.
Private Hayden had been overseas for nine months. The Navy Department did not report when he was killed. Before entering service in September, 1941, he won the caddies’ amateur golf championship at the Maketewah Country Club in 1941. A brother, Sergeant Donald S. Hayden, is with the Army Air Forces at March Field, California.
