HARDS, HAROLD F.
FRIENDSWOOD, TX. – Harold F. Hards, 92, of Friendswood, TX passed away August 10, 2012.
He was born in Yonkers, NY October 26, 1919 to Joseph W. and Anna R. Hards. He served in WWII as a Marine Raider from January 20, 1942 until November 9, 1945. He served in the Pacific where he was wounded on Okinawa and was awarded the Purple Heart. Harold was employed by Uniroyal for 35 years when he retired. He spent 18 years wintering in Arroyo City, TX and summering in Clarksburg, WV. He volunteered at the VA Hospital in WV and at the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge in Rio Hondo, TX.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eleanor Albert; and two grandchildren, Brett and Stephanie Radeker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Martha Cruise Hards; daughter, Lynda and Richard Radeker; son, Barry and Ann; son, Jeffrey and Annie; 9 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 3:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX with Rev. Rosemary Dubois officiating.
In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy or the Salvation Army.
