HANSEN, EVAN J.

HAMPTON–Mrs. Else Hansen has received a telegram from the War Department Wednesday stating that her son, Evan J. Hansen, 20, had been killed in action [August 7, 1942] while serving with the Marines. Hansen had been a member of the Marine Corps about two years.

Born in Coulter, Evan came to Hampton as a high school student. He was employed on a farm near here before joining the Marines.

Two brothers are now serving in the armed forces—Carle in the Navy and Herbert in the Army. There are four other brothers and three sisters in the Hansen family.

Evan was serving at an undisclosed station and the body has been temporarily buried there, Mrs. Hansen was advised.
