GOLDING, WILLIE A.

MOUNT AIRY – Mr. William A. “Bill” Golding, 86, of 124 Brownstone Lane, Mount Airy, husband of Mary Hope Booker Golding, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at his home. Mr. Golding was born in Surry County on July 7, 1921, to the late Parley Golding and Lula Dawson Golding. He was sales manager for the Miracle Maid Division of West Bend Co. for 29 years; a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II; and a member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Golding was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude Smith, Hattie Hale and Rachel Hemmings; and two brothers, Wade “Tobe” Golding and Garnett Golding. Surviving are his wife, Mary Hope Booker Golding of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Steve Wrenn of Asheboro and Sandra and Joe Golding of Boones Mill, Va.; a son, Billy Golding, and Margaret Springer of Roanoke, VA; four grandchildren, Joel Golding and wife Margie, Brian Wrenn and wife Rebekah, Holly Hart and husband Jonathan and Will Golding; three great-grandchildren, Ben Farmer, Kayla Golding and Chloe Hart; and three brothers, C.R. Golding, Ed Golden and Tom Golding, all of Mount Airy. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis “Bud” Cameron and the Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Sept. 1, at Moody Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
