GOLASZEWSKI, CHESTER L.
Master Sergeant Chester L. “Chet” Goll (Golaszewski) died of cardiac arrest on February 1, 1994. He was 76.
Born in Nanticoke, Pa., he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1939. A Raider, he was first sergeant of Company B, 2nd Raider Battalion (Carlson’s Raiders) and participated in the Makin Island raid and the Guadalcanal campaign of World War II.
Retiring from the Marine Corps in 1959, he worked for the Army as a computer specialist and was an active member and secretary of Edson’s Raiders Association for many years.
Historian’s note: Chester Golaszewski changed his surname to Goll after the war.
