GLOEDE, RAYMOND

TALLULAH – Raymond Gloede died Friday, May 4, 2001, at his home in Tallulah. He was 84.

Mr. Gloede was born in Evanston, Ill. He was the retired owner of a lawn equipment sales and service business. He was a veteran of World War II having served as a platoon sergeant in the Amphibious Recon Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the Silver Star, Navy Unit Commendation and other medals during the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Haywood Gloede of Tallulah; a stepdaughter, Katherine H. Daigle of Oxford; three stepsons, Richard G. Haywood of Baton Rouge, James D. Haywood of Alexandria and Thomas W. Haywood of Houston, Texas; a sister, Peggy Townsend of Glenview, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and other relatives.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
