GARLAND, WILLIAM J.

MELBOURNE — William J. Garland, 75, a retiree, died Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at home. Mr. Garland was born in Sedalia, Mo. He came to Brevard County in 1967 from St. Louis, Mo. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in World War II and received a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal. “To our Father, You were our Hero!” Mr. Garland worked for McDonnell Douglas as a personnel administrator and then later as a Manager for Eckerd Drugs. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Titusville. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris Garland of Melbourne; sons, William R. Garland and John C. Garland, both of Indialantic; daughters, Linda Guenther and Nancy Stickels, both of Orlando, Molly Bulko of Ormond Beach and Sarah Wilgus of Melbourne; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Florida Memorial Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Health First, 1900 Dairy Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904. Florida Memorial Funeral Home, north of Melbourne, is in charge of arrangements.
