FOLZ, PETER J.
Peter J. Folz, 75, of Salem died here Sunday [November 28, 1993].
He was born in Dickinson, N.D. On Oct. 14, 1946, he married Marjorie Smith in San Diego.
He served for 30 years in the Marine Corps, retiring in 1958 as a master sergeant. He fought in World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Marine Raiders during World War II.
After retiring from the military, he worked as a certified moving consultant for United Van Lines. In 1988 he retired from his civilian job.
For more than 13 years, he grew Christmas trees in the Silverton hills. In June 1993 he sold his tree farm and moved to Salem.
He belonged to the Silverton Knights of Columbus and enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Garry of Yreka, Calif., Philip and Guy, both of Wilsonville, and Mark, Paul and Patrick, all of Keizer; daughters, Natalie Burgess of Turner, Rebecca Folz of Wilsonville and Sheila Folz of Salem; brothers, Frank of Yakima, Wash., and Harry of Billings, Mont.; sisters, Helen Hathaway of Rancho Murrieta, Calif., Mary Pomperoy of Bracketsville, Texas, and Polly Coleman and Rose Hansen, both of Glendive, Mont.; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Arrangements are by Unger Mortuary, Silverton.
