FLETCHER, CARL W., JR.
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Carl W. “Blackie” Fletcher, 50, of Lake Charles died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday [November 30, 1974] in a hospital here after a long illness.
He was a native of Colfax and had lived here the past 25 years. He was a dispatcher for Bulk Transport Co. and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sophie Fletcher of Lake Charles; a daughter, Mrs. Carla Breaux of Lake Charles; two brothers, K. D. Fletcher of Lake Charles and James F. Fletcher of Dalzell, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. H. B. Gorham Jr. of Natchitoches, Mrs. J. C. Alford Sr. of Colfax, Mrs. C. B. Duran of Humble, Tex., and Mrs. Arnold Hunter of Boyce and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Hixson Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Murrell Ewing officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Bethel Cemetery east of Colfax. Military graveside services will be conducted.
