FERENCHAKOVIC, CHARLES J.
Charles J. Ferenchak, 84, of Elyria, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a short illness.
Born in Lorain, he had lived in Elyria most of his life.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in World War II with the 3rd Raider Battalion in the South Pacific, where he was wounded in action. Later he served as a drill instructor until his discharge.
He was employed as a service ladle crane operator at U.S. Steel Lorain Works for 43 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a life member of Elyria VFW Post 1079, of which he was a member of the honor guard. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Elyria and a D.A.V. member in the Marine Corps.
Mr. Ferenchak was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s.
Survivors include his daughters Anne Marie Mozynski of Coppell, Texas, and Kathleen Baker of Lakewood; a son, Charles M. Ferenchak of Lorain; two grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Endrizal of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine T. Ferenchak (nee Nasipak) in 2002; a brother, John Ferenchak; and his parents, John Ferenchak and Barbara Ferenchak (nee Blazina).
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Reichlin-Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St. in Elyria, where services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Patrick Shields will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria, where VFW Post 1079 and the Marine Corps League Detachment 576 will conduct full military honors.
