FELIX, WILLIAM J.

William J. Felix, 89, of Henderson, passed away March 6, 2013.

He was born April 22, 1923, in Indiana, and raised in Hoopeston, Ill.

Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific theater during World War II, was injured and received the Purple Heart.

He left Illinois in 1952 and taught school in Whittier, Calif. Bill became principal in 1960 and served 40 years in education until he retired from West Covina Unified School District. In 2000, he and his wife moved to Henderson.

Bill loved sports, enjoyed traveling and was an active participant in the Henderson, Black Mountain Detachment of the Marine Corps.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandchild, Jeff Mosier; and stepdaughter, Laura Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Janet (Richard) Trott, George (Nancy) Felix and Barbara (Robert) Schweitzer; stepson, Darrell (Ingrid) Davies; brother-in-law, Robert George; brother, Dale (Mary) Felix; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Deborah), Jennifer, Bill (Laura), Becca (Gus) and Emilie; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, with burial following, both at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
