FARRELL, THOMAS L.
Thomas L. Farrell, 65, Norman, died Tuesday [November 19, 1968] in Mercy Hospital. He was executive chef and director of food services for Oklahoma Center for Continuing Education.
He was born in Hull, Mass., and took his first job in a Boston hotel at the age of 16. He took the position in Norman in 1963.
When Oklahoma residents were allowed to order specially lettered license plates, he ordered one that rread: “CHEF.”
He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, First Presbyterian Church in Norman and Sommeliers (Gourmet Society of London). Past president of Oklahoma Chefs Association, past vice president of American Institute of Chefs and a veteran of World Wars I and II.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; three stepsons, John Brindle, of the home; Larry Brindle, Santa Ana, Calif., And Raymond Brindle, Sherman, Texas and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jeanne Black, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Martha Hackney, Norman.
Services will be at 1:30 Thursday in Primrose Funeral Home with burial in IOOF Cemetery in Norman.
