FARLEY, HAYWARD
Hayward Farley, 91, of Wayne, Mich., formerly of Harlan, passed away on June 9, 2008.
He was born on March 16, 1917 in Baxter. He was a coal miner in Harlan and after moving to Wayne, Mich., he retired from General Motors. He was a Marine who fought in World War II. He received several medals. He was a member of the VFW and Foreign Legion of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Farley and Sarah Jane Harris Farley; an infant daughter, Deborah; his wife, Bessie Simpson Farley, of Wayne, Mich.; one granddaughter and one grandson; four brothers: infant twins, Karl and Kyle Farley; and Earl (Buck) Farley, of Indiana; and George (Dude) Farley, of Ohio; four sisters: Estill Farley Middleton, Ora Farley Henson, Viola Farley Trent and Geneva Farley Phillips.
Survivors include seven children: Victor and Sharon Farley, of Wayne, Mich.; Wayne and Pat Farley, of Wayne, Mich.; Wallace and Barbara Farley Shell, of Michigan; Harold and Diane Farley, of Nicholasville; Odell Farley, of Wayne, Mich.; Walter and Gail Farley Shell, of Tennessee; and LeRoy and Donna Farley, of Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at UHT Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Henson officiating.
Military rites were performed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11.
Interment was in Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Westland, Mich. Military rites and a 21-gun salute were performed.
