FALTYN, HUBERT J.

Hubert J. “Bert” Faltyn, of Salem, Ore., formerly of Exeter, died Wednesday [June 8, 1994] here.

He was born in Exeter, Pa. He had been a Salem resident since 1947. He married Alice L. Miller on Nov. 27, 1948, in Salem.

During World War II, he served with the Carlson Raiders and the 5th Marine Division. He did eight years active duty in the Marine Corps and 17 years in the reserves. He retired as a lieutenant colonel and received the Navy Cross and Purple Heart among other citations.

From 1957 to 1977, he owned the Triangle Motors Dodge Chrysler Plymouth dealership in McMinnville.

He was a past member of the McMinnville Kiwanis Club and the Salem Optimist Club. He enjoyed sports.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mary Ruth of Salem, Cindy Miller of Eugene, and Connie Sealy of LaPine; sons, Stephen of Keizer, Russ of Portland and Richard of Salem; sisters, Louise Millington of Concord, Mass., Ann O’Keefe and Pauline Faltyn, both of Levittown, Pa., and Rosalie Ferro of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; brothers, Raymond of Wilkes-Barre and Anthony of Exeter, Pa.; and nine grandchildren.

Visiting will be from 10 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Virgil T. Golden Mortuary. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the mortuary. Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment with military honors by the Marine Corps will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
