EMREE, HAROLD W.

A Sandia Base soldier was killed in a two-car collision at 8:40 Friday night [March 1, 1952] 16 miles west of Vaughn. The victim was Lt. Harold Emree, 28.

Emree was a passenger in a car driven by Cpl. Robert G. Ballard, who is in Sandia Base Hospital along with two other passengers, Sgt William H. Mick and M/Sgt. And Alvin Showalter. None of the three survivors is considered in serious condition.

Ballard”s car collided with one driven by Kenneth May, of East Vaughn. May suffered face cuts. Robert Marshall, also of Vaughn, a passenger in the May car, was uninjured.

State Police said Saturday that May has been charged with drunk driving.

Emree is survived by his wife, the former Miss Tess Kersting, of Santa Fe, and his mother, Dagmar Emree, of San Francisco, Cal.

Lt. Emree and his wife lived at 2445 North Palomas Drive, Albuquerque. His body will be taken to San Francisco today. Funeral arrangements will be made in California.
