EGGENBERGER, PHILIP H.
KEMPTON, (PNS)–Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Eggenberger, of Kempton, were notified Tuesday that their son, Philip, who was overseas with the Marines, was killed in a hunting expedition [September 26, 1943]. The message stated a letter would follow. Their youngest son, he graduated from Kempton High School in 1939. He was prominent in all school activities, especially basketball. He enlisted in the Marines and after receiving his training was sent overseas. While on the Solomon Islands, at one time, he wrote home that he had been in action for 30 days, and was then at a rest camp for a few days. A sister, Sgt. Betty Eggenberger, enlisted in the Marines and an older brother, Lt. David Eggenberger, is stationed at Camp Blanding, Fla.
