DUNCAN, RUSSELL

Marine Colonel Russell Duncan, 47-years-old, former resident of Joplin, died Wednesday [April 10, 1963] after suffering a heart attack at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Colonel Duncan had commanded the Seventh Marine Regiment at Camp Pendleton since March 29. He was a graduate of Joplin High School and Annapolis Naval Academy. He was the son of the late Mattie Duncan of Joplin, who was active for several years in the Democratic Party here.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Terry Duncan; a daughter, Miss Nikki Michele Duncan, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Lee Lemons, Mrs. Frank Parker, and the former Mrs. Mildred Cox, all of Tucson, Ariz.

Military services will be Friday at Pendleton base chapel with burial in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at San Diego, Calif.
