TAMPA – An 83-year-old Apollo Beach man died today [April 7, 2008] in a wreck on Interstate 75 just south of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Harland W. Davis was heading north on I-75 in the left lane about 8:30 a.m. when his Ford F-250 began to swerve.

The Ford rotated counterclockwise and traveled off the interstate and into a median, a Florida Highway Patrol release states. It struck a guardrail, rotated counterclockwise and struck the guardrail again.

The Ford rotated back onto the interstate, eventually coming to rest on the east emergency lane and east shoulder of northbound I-75.

The road was wet, but it wasn’t raining when the crash occurred, troopers say.

Troopers are still investigating.
