CURTIS, ROLAND P.
Mr. Roland P. Curtis, 55, of 353 Hanging Moss Circle, died unexpectedly Thursday night [September 30, 1976] at his home from an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today from the Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Julius C. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
The family request that memorials be made to the Social Work Department at the Veterans Hospital or to the Heart Fund. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lynne J. Higgs; three daughters, Mrs. James (Lynne) Spears, of Lafayette, Ga., Miss Paula Curtis, of Jackson, Mrs. Robert (Dawn) Jackson, of Hattiesburg; one grandson, Bryan Spears; one sister, Mrs. Lawrence Lush, of Wesson; and one brother, Charles Curtis, of Wesson.
Curtis, a native of Meridian, served in the Navy attached to the Marines, during World War Two. He was a graduate of Copiah Lincoln Junior College and formerly lived in Wesson before moving to Jackson in 1947.
He had been a cost accountant at Desoto Industries for the past 29 years. He was a member and a deacon at the Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where he formerly was a Sunday school teacher. He was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Jackson.
