CSINNJINNI, CARL

Carl J. Csinnjinni, 69, a resident of Albuquerque for 30 years, died Monday, December 16, 1991. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pauline Csinnjinni of the home; brothers, Victor Jensen and wife, Della of Teesto, AZ and Ned Csinnjinni and wife, Alice of Dilcon, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews (who considered him to be their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather), all of Teesto, AZ and Albuquerque. Mr. Csinnjinni was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Tsinijinnie; sister, Fannie Greyhair; and niece, Maggie Greyhair, all of Teesto, AZ. He was born on February 9, 1922 and was raised in Teesto, AZ. He attended school in Leupp, AZ. Mr. Csinnjinni graduated from Albuquerque Indian School and attended UNM. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific as a Navajo Code Talker. Mr. Csinnjinni was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 37 years, from 1948 to December 1985. He tutored Native American students at UNM, and was past president of the Navajo Club. For the past 16 years, he was a very active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Our Lady of Assumption Church, where he received honors and thanks for being one of the senior members. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas at Tennessee, with Father Luis Jaramillo, celebrant. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM, with full military honors by V.F.W. Post 2951. Pallbearers will be Monte Rivera, John Barbara, Placido Sanchez, John Garrity, Ernie Lucky and Sal Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Herman, Joe Herman Jr., Eloy Moya, Wayne Thurston, Bill Jarvis, Roy Landwehr, Jim Silsby, Tony Velarde and Pete Zamora.
