COOPER, WOODROW

Funeral services for Woodrow Cooper, 49, Stanaford, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Missionary Baptist Church of Stanaford with the Rev. Carl Gray and the Rev. C. W. Jones in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

He apparently was the victim of a heart attack while walking on a road at Lanark about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday [July 24, 1962].

Raleigh County Coroner Dr. Ross P. Daniel ruled his death as apparently a heart attack, according to a spokesman for Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home.

State Police had been called to investigate the death. They said the man was found face down along the road. Officers said he apparently had been alone.

He was a veteran of World War II and was employed as a civil engineer with the Robert Davis Engineering Co., Beckley.

Born Jan. 15, 1913, at Winding Gulf, he was a son of Mrs. Aniel Cooper of Beckley and the late William A. Cooper.

Survivors other than his mother include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Allen Cooper of Stanaford; one son, Douglas, at home; and three brothers, Carlyle of Stanaford, Pershing of Richmond, Va., and Carmel of Columbus, Ohio.

The body will be taken from the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home to the church an hour prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Charles Bennett, William Wardensky, Orphal Daniels, Lacy, Patrick, and James Winston.
