CHRISTEIN, JOHN E.

John E. Christein of 927 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, died Tuesday [January 25, 1994] in his home on his 76th birthday. He was the husband of the late Rose (Domenic) Christein.

He was a bricklayer and the business agent of the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers Union Local 8.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Clarence and Stella Christein.

He was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and was part of Edison’s [Raiders]. He received three Purple Hearts and a Presidential Citation.

Survivors: Sons, John of Pittston, Luzerne County, and Jeffrey of Wilson; brother, Louis of Bethlehem; sister, Laura R. Burns of Butler, Butler County, and seven grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Lester S. Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden St., Bethlehem. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.
