CHAPMAN, ROBERT L.

Robert L. Chapman, 76, of Coulee Dam, died Friday, September 5, 1997, at his home.

He was born October 4, 1920, in Spokane to Ernest and Florence (Wilke) Chapman. He attended school in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School in 1939.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, serving in the South Pacific and was wounded on Iwo Jima.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Marine Corps Raider Association.

He married R. Barbara Wigen in LaCrosse on May 1, 1948. He worked as a power house operator for the Bureau of Reclamation until his retirement in 1974.

Survivors include his wife at home; two sons and their wives, Steven and Cheryl and David and Christine, all of Grand Coulee; a daughter and her husband, Sandee and Dan Lust of Medical Lake; six grandchildren and one on the way

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Chapman in 1964.

Inurnment will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10 (today) at 1 p.m. today in the Spring Canyon Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, following the inurnment at Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee. Mardel and Roger Tanquist will officiate.
