CHAMPOUX, NEIL G.
Sgt. Neil Champoux, 22, U.S. Marine Corps, son of George Champoux of Northampton and nephew of Lieut. And Mrs. Frank L. Champoux, 8 Dalton Avenue, has been killed in action [September 15, 1942] in the Solomon Islands, War Department officials have disclosed. Prayers were offered at St. Mark’s Church where his first cousin, Rev. Timothy L. Champoux, is an assistant pastor.
Sgt. Champoux had been in the Marines for two years. His father believes he was killed more than a month ago as a participant in the Marine bridgehead, used in the U.S. forces’ first big drive for the islands.
Besides his father, who spent the weekend here with Frank Champoux, Sgt. Champoux is survived by two sisters.
