VANDENBERG, JOHN E.
Kenosha, Wis.—(AP)—Pfc. John Eugene Vandenberg, 24, has been killed in action [August 17, 1942] in the Pacific Theater of operations, his mother, Mrs. Elsie Vandenberg, was notified last night. He joined the Marine Corps shortly after Pearl Harbor and was a member of a raiding battalion.
