CASSIDY, VINCENT H. D., JR.

Dr. Vincent H. Cassidy, retired Medieval History professor at Akron University, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30 [1989], at Akron General Hospital.

He was born in Derry, N.H. Sept. 10, 1923. Dr. Cassidy served in the Marines during World War II as an original member of the First Marine Raider Battalion in 1942. He received his doctorate in history at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and was a professor of Ancient Medieval History at SLI in Lafayette, La., prior to coming to Akron.

He is survived by son, John M. Cassidy; daughter, Karen N. Cassidy; sisters, Jacqueline Robie, Pauline Hamer; brothers, Michael Cassidy and Robert Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews.
