WHARTON –Memorial services for Russell David Calvo Sr., 71, of Wharton, native of Orange, were held Nov. 18 at the Wharton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William E. Jenkins and the Rev. Ken Goddell officiating.

He died Nov. 15 [1996] in Houston.

He was an accountant who retired from Texas Gulf Sulphur, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wharton, the American Legion Post 87, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the U.S. Marine Raider Association.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Rinker Calvo of Wharton; two daughters, Laura Jones of Missouri City and Caron Lopez of Richmond; three sons, Dr. R. David Calvo of Sugar Land, Christopher Calvo of Houston and Gary R. Calvo of Alvin; two sisters, Jean Swift and Beth Baas, both of Orange; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
