BROUILLARD, DONALD B.

Donald B. Brouillard passed away peacefully of natural causes and went home to the Lord on April 25, 2000. He was born on January 26, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Brouillard; daughter, Phyllis Jean Pepin. Survived by son, Thomas and daughter-in-law, Mary Helen Brouillard; granddaughter, Natasha, her fiancé, John Schwartz; and great-grandson, Jake Thomas Schwartz; three cousins; nieces and nephews; and especially nephew, David Person, who took the time to love and respect Don. A special mention to Gib Pepin, the ex-son-in-law of Don’s, who cut his hair and was a special friend. Don retired from the Star and Tribune July, 1982 as a 34-year veteran of the newspaper. Before retiring from the Star he worked at Charlie’s Cafe Exceptional. In the Marine Corps, 1941-1944 with an honorable discharge. Don fought on land and in the ring. He was light heavyweight champion of Guadalcanal and Solomon Islands. On his return to the States, he continued to box professionally until 1948. Don was involved in politics and writing articles on his strong beliefs to many newspapers throughout the United States. He loved his country and his church. 35-year member of Immaculate Conception Ushers Club. Graveside services Friday, April 28, 2000 at 12:45 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
